Antonio Matinho

Antonio Matinho is the publisher and director of the LusoAmericano Portuguese language newspaper based in Newark, NJ.  The newspaper has been serving the Portuguese-American communities throughout the United States since 1928.

Born in Fatima, Portugal, Mr. Matinho has resided in the U.S. since 1958.  He is married with three children and five grandchildren.  In his early career, Mr. Matinho was an associate engineer in research and development with Weston Instruments and RCA.  Starting in the 1970’s, his scope of entrepreneurial activities expanded into the fields of construction, real estate, publishing and banking.

Besides his publishing and entrepreneurial endeavors, Mr. Matinho has been active in numerous civic and community organizations:  He is a founding member of the Portuguese-American Leadership Council of the United States, founder and past President of the Portuguese-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and a current member of the Council of Trustees of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

In 1988 he became a founding Board Member of Ironbound Bank in Newark, NJ.  Presently he is a founding Board Member of Community First Bank based in Somerset, NJ. Mr. Matinho is an avid auto enthusiast and car collector. He and his wife reside in Bedminster, NJ.

 

Paul Matinho

Paul Matinho is the third generation owner/operations director of the family-owned LusoAmericano newspaper. Born and raised in New Jersey, Paul graduated from Boston College in 1986 and Rutgers Law School in 1989.  He is married with three children.

Paul founded and operated a retail travel and insurance agency which he sold in 2000.  In addition to his duties at the newspaper, he is active in commercial property investment and commercial property management. His civic involvement included a leadership position with a local Boy Scout organization and eight years as a Board Member of the Bedminster Township Zoning Board of Adjustment.

His enthusiasm for the automobile was kindled by his experiences behind the wheel of his first car in high school, a 4-speed, V-8 powered Triumph Stag. Paul later developed an interest in restoring, driving and racing various breeds of Ford Mustangs.  He and his family live in Bedminster, NJ.
